Error 691 is a common error that generally indicates your username or password is typed incorrectly. Please ensure your username is all lowercase letters, your password is typed correctly (your password is case sensitive), and that you are typing your full username (yourusernamehere@207me.com). Note: Dialmaine.com and Downeast.net users e-mail addresses will look like the following: yourusernamehere@dialmaine.com or yourusernamehere@downeast.net

Most desktop computers have 2 jacks, one labeled LINE(picture or wall outlet) and one labeled PHONE(picture of phone). You should plug the cord into the jack labeled LINE and the other end of the cord directly into a wall jack. To troubleshoot eliminate any splitters. You can listen on the phone when you dial, if you hear a click, that means the line is connected correctly.

The mail settings for your account are as follows Incoming Server Type: POP3 Port: 110 Incoming Server (POP): mail.207me.com Outgoing Server (SMTP): mail.207me.com User/Account Name: Your E-mail Address Password: Your E-mail Account Password Make sure to enable authentication on the outgoing server. In Microsoft Outlook express this is located as a check box under Tools>Accounts>Properties at the bottom of the Servers tab.

You can access mail from any web browser by going to http://mail.207me.com. Use your full e-mail address and password to log in.

Most likely someone has sent you an email with a very large attachment. If it is 3-4 megabytes it could take over an hour to download. If you dont want to wait for it you can go to http://mail.207me.com and delete any mail that has a size of MB. Once you have deleted it, make sure you click on the purge mail button. Now retry downloading mail from your normal mail client.

Unfortunately SPAM is not avoidable. The mail system checks every message for spam and viruses and redirects messages it thinks were not intended for you into the quarantine folder. Occasionally the filters will catch a legitimate email. If you have something quarantined you will receive a daily email from the POSTMASTER. See the next question to learn more about this report.
